What are Biography Bottles?
A Biography Bottle is a bottle made to look like a person who has made an important contribution. Students will choose a famous person (inventor, explorer, scientist, etc. – no entertainers or athletes) to research. After reading about the person, students will create a Biography Bottle. Biography Bottles are due in the library no later than November 18. Students must also include an index card with their Biography Bottle which contains the following information:
*** Name of Person
*** One or two sentences telling why this person is important or what contribution this person has made.
*** Student’s name and teacher’s name on the back of the card.
Supplies:
*A water bottle or a 2-liter bottle for the body of your person.
*A Styrofoam ball, a tennis ball, or some other round object to create a head on top of your bottle. Attach head to bottle if possible.
*Art and craft supplies (markers, paint, fabric, construction paper, yarn, wiggle eyes, etc.) to create clothing, hair, face, etc.
Tips:
*Remove any stickers or papers that are on the bottle.
*Empty and clean your bottle with warm soapy water.
*Place sand or pebbles in the bottom of your bottle to help it stand.
*This may be a family project.
*Present-day entertainers and athletes will not be judged.

Biography Bottles are due in the library Thursday, November 10, 2016. Judging will take place on November 11. All students will be able to view the biography bottles during their regular library class during the week of November 14-18.
